I Am To Be A Blessing

Luke 24, verse 51 says this, "While He (Jesus) was blessing them (His disciples), He left them and was taken up to heaven."

The ascension of our Jesus.

The part I was struck by and the part I focused in on was, "WHILE He was blessing them..."

WHILE.

He didn't wait until His ascension into heaven was complete to bestow blessing on His children... He did it WHILE He was still with Him. WHILE He was being taken up He was found doing what He always did and that was bless them.

And this is why the study of His nature and His character is so important.

I'm always looking for ways to emulate Jesus.
Because He left me... let us... with an assignment.
"Greater works will YOU do than I did." (John 14:12)
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations..." (Matthew 28:19)

And so I do some digging and I discover that the attitude of Christ must be the same attitude I possess if I want to do His Work in the world.

1.) He came to bless the world.

And

2.) He spent every moment communicating that blessing.

My work becomes clear when I see how He did it.
He left me with the empowerment of His Spirit to be His hands and feet.

I have been assigned to:

1.) bless the world.
And

2.) spend every moment I have communicating that blessing to others.

Every moment.

Think through the application of this for a while.

Every moment.

That moment dealing with the irritable cashier.
That moment interacting with an irrational child.
That moment engaging with an agitated spouse.

Those moments of defeat.
Those moments that seem unfair.
Those moments where anger and retaliation feel like the best response.

Yes... those moments.

Every moment.

If I am to RE-present Him here in the land of the living, then I must do some heart investigation and some behavior modification so that I can respond with blessing... bringing Him into every environment I enter.

His purpose was to be a blessing and communicate that blessing to all He encountered.
My purpose is to be a blessing and communicate that blessing to all I encounter.

The aim in my assignment is to keep focused on His arms stretched out and then emulate that behavior as best I can.
