Because let's face it... sometimes we need reminding.
Reminding to... remember!
There is an interesting section of scripture found in Matthew 12.
In verses 9 and 10, The Pharisees were looking for ways to bring
charges against Jesus by reciting the law which permitted a person to
heal the Sabbath. Oh but just like our Jesus, He answers with a
question and heals the precious man with the withered hand. Verse 13
says, "Then He said to the man, 'Hold out your hand.' So the man held
out his hand and it was restored, just like the other one!"
Then we see Him work the miraculous again in verse15, "... So He left
that area, and many people followed Him. He healed all the sick among
them...."
We see it again in verse 22. "The a demon-possessed
man, who was blind and couldn't speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed
the man that he could both speak and see."
And the Pharisees were a witness to all of it.
All of it!
The even made suggestions that He obtained His power from Satan himself (verse 24.)
But skip with me to verse 38.
"One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and
said, 'Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove Your
authority.'"
Really?
After all of that - and they STILL wanted a sign as proof?
And yet how often has this been us?
We see Him work the miraculous in our lives and we fail to remember His goodness?
And sometimes it happens IMMEDIATELY following an encounter with the miracle work of Jesus!
I have been witness to many occasions where good things happen,
miracles are performed, goodness and mercy are granted, and then almost
instantaneously the beneficiary to the miracle forgets altogether and
like dogs, we return to the vomit.
I have been guilty of this.
Guilty of forgetting.
In the midst of chaos and pain, we often times forget the times He has
been faithful and good and merciful and forgiving and steadfast.
And so I am challenging you today with this:
Remember.
Remember His faithfulness.
Remember the times He has worked the miracle in your life.
Remember His graciousness when He didn't have to provide it.
Remember the times He carried you.
Remember the battles He has won on your behalf.
OH friend... remember.
The greatest damage to our spiritual health so often times stems from
our failure to remember and our neglectfulness of His provision.
Keep going friend!
