Jesus Sees Storms Differently

Sometimes I find notes in my bible that I had forgotten were there.  And then I stumble upon them at just the right time.

A couple months ago I was thinking through the VERY familiar story of Jesus walking on water.  Let's face it, even if you're NOT a believer of Jesus, you likely know the highlights of the story.

Matthew 14:22-33
A storm.
A boat.
Jesus walking on the water.
Frightened disciples.
Over-zealous Peter.

And Jesus, calling to Peter to come out to the water where He was says, "Come and join me."
And as much as Peter wanted to, and even attempted to, the fear took hold of him, and when it did, he began to sink.

And I had written it on my sticky note... "Think though this."  And I think it's serving as my encouragement to you today.

The water... was the very thing that served as a death trap to the one who disbelieved in it's ability to actually rescue and save.
The water... at first glance, was the very thing that would threaten the one who saw it's purpose as pain.

BUT...
Could the water become the very source of life... the very thing that would bring profit to the believing and trusting student of Jesus?
Could the water be the very thing that "bore up under him", and in actuality, supported him with the intention of keeping him alive?

It's truly all about perspective.

I am CONVINCED that Jesus could be found sleeping in the boat in the middle of a storm (Matt 8:23), because He doesn't see storms the same way you and I see storms.

He has peace.
He has security.
He knows who makes the wind and waves.

And so could you and I see this storm differently?
Could you and I determine to see this water... this national crises.. as having in it the very saving power that will actually keep us more spiritually alive than every before??

I encourage you to... think through this with me.
