Who You Have Been, God, Is Who You Will Be

In my main translation, Psalm 10:17 reads like this - “Lord, You know the hopes of the helpless. Surely You will hear their cries and comfort them.”



Great news!
Such a promise.

He will SEE us.
He will HEAR our cries.
He will COMFORT us.

But take a look at it in the CSB. It says this, “Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully.”

The CSB says, “Lord You HAVE heard…” and, “You WILL strengthen…” and, “You WILL listen…”

He HAS.
He WILL.

And so I jotted it in my notes, the little observation that became Divine revelation in the days of weariness..
Who You HAVE BEEN, God, is who You WILL BE.

Oh He is the same today as He was yesterday and who He will be tomorrow.

Circumstances change.
Situations shift.
But our God.. Remains the same!

THIS is such good news! And worth rejoicing about today.

In the very midst of a painful pandemic… hope can be found in His steady and dependable nature!!
