Watching and Noticed

Matthew 4:18 says this, "One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers - Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew - throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living." Verse 19 goes on to say, "Jesus called out to them, 'Come, follow Me, and I will show you how to fish for people.'" I love the way The Passion Translation describes what Jesus was doing.

It says, "Jesus NOTICED two fishermen... WATCHING as they were casting their nets in the water..."

I love those two words... watching and noticed.

Ah... sweet Jesus is always watching and taking notice.

He cares about the things we care about.

And here I love it that Jesus calls out the ordinary for big tasks. He sees what we are already doing... what we are already passionate about.... and considers ways for us to use that! He watches and takes notice as to where we are in life and calls us based on what He sees as a skill and talent we can use for Kingdom work!

Jesus calls to us - YOU AND ME - in our ordinary, seemingly insignificant interests and beckons us from the shore to use them for kingdom use.

So - what is it you have? What is it you're doing that can be used for His glory?

I get asked that a lot - HOW do I know what the calling of God is on my life?

To which I always respond with - Pay attention to the things you love to do. Consider those things that keep you awake at night! What are you passionate about doing? He's given you that desire and that drive for a reason! It's just up to you to decide how you're going to allow Him to use it for work that advances the Kingdom of God!

He's so good! That He would co-labor with us to bring about His ultimate purposes on planet earth is beyond crazy.

That's love!
