Because the truth really is that so many of us are carrying around the disease of disappointment. And it’s absolutely toxic to our souls.
Disease = a disordered of incorrectly functioning structure or system of the body resulting from developmental errors, infection, poisons, or imbalance, toxicity, or unfavorable environmental factors; any harmful, depraved, or morbid condition.
Yes. Disappointment is this. A disease.
It’s a disease when we allow that which has disappointed us to affect our development. When what feels externally unfavorable is granted permission to cause imbalance. When inconvenient outcomes have been allowed to overshadow our determination to keep pursuing righteousness found only in the One who died so we could know.
This really is a fight to stay strong when faced with overwhelming conditions. And we are only made stronger... and better... by overcoming destructive and damaging thoughts that lead to malnourished actions and dysfunctional behavior stemming from the disappointment we’ve faced.
Because sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned. And sometimes people let you down. Sometimes it hurts and it’s unfair and it’s inexcusable. But we are called to rise above. We are being drawn out of the despair caused by disappointment.
Because it IS a disease. And it is making us sick. And it is destroying lives.
And we have a choice. There is a cure.
And it’s no longer a secret. I know it. Maybe you do too. It’s Jesus.
The cure for disappointment is radical abandonment to Jesus.
The One who never disappoints.
The One who heals all who come to Him.
The One who restores brokenness.
The One who knows just where it hurts and offers a solution no one else can offer.
Freedom. Peace. Immunity.
Let it go. Not because it doesn’t matter, but because it’s too heavy. And it was never meant to be carried this far past the cross.
