It's something my heart is learning to feel and my lips are learning to recite.
Thanksgiving... in all circumstances.
I could sense it was indeed what the Lord wanted of me this past week. A difficult week. Pressures mounting. Sickness invading. Prolonged illness continuing.
I heard Him in the stillness of my heart.
I long for your praise.
Because something happens when we give thanks in the middle of the most challenging situations.
Something changes when we choose to combat misfortune with joyful praise.
There's a shift in the atmosphere... and all of a sudden fear and regret and anger... they all bow at the name of Jesus.
Worship is our warfare and voices lifted to the King ushers us into victory before the battle has a chance to disturb, distract, and dissuade me.
1 Thess 5:18 commands us, "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
It's His appointed will that we be thankful. We cannot be belong to Him without it.
Eph 5:20 says, "And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Thanksgiving by trial is possible... because that which He's called me to do, He's empowered me to accomplish.
And so in the midst of uncertainty, doubt, fear, pain, heartache, loss, and burden, I will give thanks. I will find Him worthy enough to rejoice in every day of my life.
