I had this thought this morning as I was in my car and had a few moments to think.
Every day it has become my habit to listen to 2 songs that sort of "get
me going." You know the ones. They are those songs that motivate and
inspire and pump me up.
One of them is a song entitled "This is
a Move" by Brandon Lake. It's a wonderful song that encourages me and
fills me with such hope!
Some of the lyrics are, "Mountains are
still be moved... bodies are still being healed... Giants are still
being slayed." "God we can see it, yes we can believe it - wonders are
still what you do!" "We are here for You, come and do what You do...
set our hearts on You... This is a move!"
While I am continuously
day after day encouraged and excited over this song, they are simply
nice words from a great artist unless I take action over what I am
inspired by.
I returned home this morning with a flood of
emotions in my heart and tears on my cheeks. And I hurried to my office
to do some digging.
I wrote this on a sticky note: "This is a move."
But you see, it can't end there.
I cannot wait for a move.
I cannot wait for a feeling to arouse me to action.
I must determine that THIS is a move, and I am a MOVER!
The word MOVE in verb form means this: "to impel, to carry from one
place to another, to cause to change place or posture in any manner or
by any means; to excite into action; to cause to act or determine; to
influence; to shake; to purpose deliberately; to prompt."
The word MOVE in noun form means this same thing, only: "the act of moving forward or from place to place."
Take a look at the verb definition again. "to change place OR posture."
This is a move.
But I am a mover!
Some synonyms for the word MOVE are: "act, action, change, maneuver, movement, shift, step, alteration, stirring, turn."
This is a move.
And I am a mover!
You see, the world is waiting for what you and I, as followers of
Jesus, carry. And we change atmospheres when we determine that while a
move of God is necessary, He employs human agents - you and I - to do
the moving!
And so it's a matter of re-shifting the way we think.
And then taking action steps that invites others in to experience His
love!
The world doesn't change until we do.
I had an
honest conversation with a best friend yesterday afternoon and we were
discussing church. And if I'm being as honest here as I was with her, I
will say this, so often we are relying on the church to be the ones who
bring the Gospel message week after week. We subconsciously leave it
to the church to make the move, when YOU and I are called to be the
move.
We wait for the church service or the Christian conference
to impact lives and influence change. But the truth really is that the
MOVE of God happens when we determine to love people where they are on a
Tuesday morning. Atmosphere's are shifted when we insist on offering
kindness on a Thursday afternoon. Kingdom realities become tangible
when we offer patience on a Saturday evening.
You are I must resolve to be MOVERS.
We must bring heaven to earth so that HIS love is recognized in us.
We have to be make room for Him to do what only He can do in the lives that are so desperate for what they need!
Jesus!
It's time to move!!!
