His Permanent Dwelling

John chapter 1, verse 32 says this, "Then John testified, 'I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting on Him (Jesus).'"

The dove rested.
He remained.
The dove... representative of the Holy Spirit... found rest and remained... or, made His home... with Jesus.

And I wonder about me.
The dove also rests upon me.
And for those who have trusted Jesus as their personal Savior.

And I imagine the Spirit of the living God looking for a place to rest upon... permanently. To make His home securely attached to me so to be recognized in the clearest and most honorable light.

I heard a pastor say one, "The Spirit of God is in me for me, but He rests upon me for other people."

Because it is the gracious opportunity of every believer to carry Him well into every broken situation this side of eternity.

Others must see Jesus and I must carry His spirit in a manner that honors who He is, and what He longs to do in the earth.

In other words, His permanent dwelling affects my personal demeanor. And it's so important to remain watchful over how I am presenting Him to the world.

I must keep asking myself the question, "Am I changed as result of what He says and where He remains?"

I owe the world a demonstration of His beautiful Spirit. His glory must be established through my nature and conduct.

It matters... it really, really, really matters! <3
