Psalm 119:55 in the NLT says this, "I reflect at night on who You are, O Lord, therefore I obey Your instructions."
The Passion Translation says it this way, "Throughout the night I think of You, dear God; I treasure Your every word to me."
I read about a pastor who does a lot of traveling around the world
throughout the year, often with one particular associate pastor friend
of his. His friend has said that often
when he wakes up in the night he finds his roommate in a semi-slumbering
condition murmuring the name of Jesus. He describes it as "praising
God in his sleep."
When the pastor once was interviewed and
asked about this, he attributed it to his continuous habit of keeping
focused throughout the day on Jesus. And by staying fixated on Him
during the day, it naturally affects how He continues to perceive Him
throughout the night.
Ahh... such inspiration!
Because it's absolutely vital that we stay fixated on Jesus at all times.
Thoughts and affections all toward Jesus.
Especially when night falls.
When darkness causes others to fear... our faith and praise must rise!
We must remain focused on who He is. Stay ever concentrated on His
holy nature, His beautiful attributes, His Word, and His works.
We conquer our sinful nature by our thought-life.
Who is it that our thoughts are fixated on?
Oh how it matters!
