Jesus saw things differently than we do.
It's evident all throughout scripture.
Lack of food, death of a friend, physical illness in bodies, sin sickness of a Samaritan woman.
He saw these situations differently.
And it's not that He lacked compassion. He most certainly demonstrated great love and compassion for people.
"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd..." Matt 9:36.
And it's not that He denied the existence of a problem altogether. He most certainly communicated challenges.
"Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows..." John 16:33.
But the thing that I am most impressed by is that He never allowed the existence of a problem to affect His countenance. He never let a problem deter Him from His calling. He never granted the problem a place of influence in His life and demanded that we do the same.
"TAKE HEART, I have overcome the world!" The rest of John 16:33.
I love the story found in Mark, chapter 4. There was a storm raging about the sea that the disciples AND Jesus were traveling on. Verse 38 tells us that Jesus, unafraid, was sleeping when the storm ensued.
Sleeping.
No, not out of lack of compassion.
No, not out of insensitivity for His companions.
No, not out of disregard to human fear.
But because He doesn't see storms the same way.
Because He doesn't allow them a place of influence and persuasion.
And so we must decide to live different if we want to be different. If we want to experience victory, we must live from a place of victory.
It's living heaven to earth when most of us are currently living earth to heaven.
Living with a renewed mindset about victory.
Living a life believing that IT IS SETTLED in Jesus' name.
Perhaps instead of trying to bring our problem to God ("Teacher don't you care that we're going to drown?", Mark 4:38b), we can start bringing God into our problem ("Teacher, we know You are here, and as long as You remain in our boat, we cannot drown!")
THIS is bringing redemptive solutions to impossible situations.
THIS is when heaven meets earth.
THIS is allowing Jesus to touch AND redeem issues that belong to Him to handle!
Be encouraged today friend.
Invite HIM in to your situation.
