I believe most of the anxiety we endure and the hardships we suffer from are a direct result of our lack of awe and adoration. We've simply lost focus on Jesus.
I can sense it within myself when I start to feel out of sorts.
When I sense frustration mounting or disappointment overwhelming me... when I start to get anxious and fearful... I do a little self examination. And I ask myself some questions:
- Where is the focus of my affection?
- Have I spent quality, alone-time with Jesus?
- Where is He standing in my current situation and is my concern with standing alongside of Him?
These things matter.
Because it's almost always about a shift in eyesight.
I have simply allowed myself to be distracted by other things.
And I must realign my priorities.
I must refocus.
Because here is what I have come to know:
When I am SO preoccupied with Jesus I don't see problems the same way.
I am no longer overwhelmed by circumstances I cannot control.
I am more tolerable of other people's shortcomings.
I no longer allow negative behavior a place of influence in my thought life.
To be preoccupied means = to absorb or engross to the exclusion of other things; to occupy beforehand or before others; to be taken; filled.
Ahh yes!
And so we must live preoccupied by Jesus!
Fully and completely.
To be so fixated on Him that nothing of the inferior negatively affects me. No bullet gets lodged within my heart.
To be totally preoccupied with Jesus means that I am no longer affected by:
- disloyalty
- sickness
- offense
- negative attitudes
- disappointment
- rejection
- gossip
- rudeness
- failure
Being preoccupied by Jesus means that I have determined who I am and Who's I am, so nothing else matters.
It's the transformation of my mind!
Romans 12:2, "... be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think." (TPT)
Yes, God!
May I love preoccupied by Jesus!
What He's doing and what's He's saying!
